I am currently providing supervision to students from colleges and universities who are at Diploma and Masters level.

City Pregnancy Counselling & Psychotherapy supervising May 2012 – present date
• Providing clinical supervision fortnightly to counsellors who work with clients (men and couples) who have experienced pregnancy loss and other related issues

Urban Bliss Nov 2011 – Mar 2012
provided one-2one and group supervision to volunteer counsellors who worked with clients from Social Care and other statutory agencies.

South London African Women’s Association Oct 2010 – June 2012
Provided monthly group/one to one supervision to volunteer counsellors and family support workers who work with clients who have experienced domestic violence, rape, sexual assault and other forms of abuse.

Turning Point 2007-2010
Clinical supervisor for volunteers and qualified counsellors working with clients with drug and alcohol addictions.

Providing monthly supervision to clinical practitioners, Young People’s Advocates and Family Support workers who are currently working with young people who have experienced Child Sexual Exploitation, Vitim’s of gang violence trafficked and Missing individuals

Providing monthly supervision to counsellors working with clients with entrenched substance misuse addictions

Providing clinical supervision to counsellors in training on Diploma and Advanced Diploma leve

The aim of supervision

• The ability to conceptualise clinical material and apply appropriate interventions
• Identification and management of transference and counter transference issues
• Awareness of ethical and professional standards
• Enhanced analytical skills, creativity, self-awareness, confidence and competence
• Clarification of roles, responsibilities and boundary issues
• Identification of professional strengths, weaknesses and training needs where appropriate:
• Assessment of supervisees’ clinical work and engagement with the supervision process
• Reporting to external authorities, such as training organisations or professional bodies.

The approach to Supervision

The supervisory relationship is seen as a common understanding of goals and tasks within a strong bond of mutual trust and respect.
• Sessions are facilitative, interactive and supportive, creating a safe environment for personal and professional disclosures
• Supervisees are encouraged to express emotions and to be reflective
• Sessions aim to provide a ‘space for thinking’, gaining of insight and creativity
• Supervisees’ worth, values and strengths are acknowledged and validated
• Supervisees are empowered by clear and constructive feedback
• Regular two-way feedback is encouraged and supervisory relationship issues are openly addressed
• Professional boundaries are adhered to
• Supervisees are encouraged to take an active role in sessions and increasing responsibility for their professional practice and professional development
• Sessions are structured according to supervisees’ development, presenting client issues and supervision stage
• Sessions are tailored to supervisees’ individual situations and needs, such as theoretical orientation, work context, learning style.

Sessions / Contracts / Fees

* Individual Supervision 50 minutes

* Group supervision 3 hours

* Qualified counsellors £50 for an hour of supervision and £25 for students whilst training

* One month’s notice is required when terminating the supervision contract from both parties

* There is a 24 hour cancellation period
